Let’s face it; glam­our pho­tog­ra­phy is enough of a chal­lenge.  Cou­pled with proper light­ing, expo­sure, and exter­nal ele­ments… the list goes on and on. You have a lot to think about dur­ing a shoot and if your not show­ing your model great poses you will be shoot­ing images that just don’t look good.

Glam­our pho­tog­ra­phy has an evo­lu­tion of sorts…in that we first learn how to cap­ture an image, then prop­erly expose and image. We learn some stu­dio light­ing; our com­po­si­tion gets bet­ter and so on. As hard as these hur­dles are to over­come, they aren’t nearly as dif­fi­cult as learn­ing mul­ti­ple “pro­fes­sional” poses for your glam­our shots.

Do you know how many times I have heard from pho­tog­ra­phers, “go ahead and do what feels com­fort­able.” what is that? You are a pro­fes­sional so act like one! You have to take direc­tion of the shoot; you need to be your mod­els mir­ror. You need to know “what feels com­fort­able” and what looks good. Your model will rely on your pro­fes­sional exper­tise as a pho­tog­ra­pher to guide her to great poses. Many mod­els may even feel lost dur­ing a photo shoot unless they have a good pho­tog­ra­pher who can direct them.
